The Studer A80-R 1/4-inch master tape recorder is a classic analog tape machine, renowned for its exceptional audio quality and robust engineering. Released in the late 1960s and 1970s, the A80 series, including the A80-R variant, became a staple in professional recording studios worldwide.
Known for its ultra-clean and dynamic analog sound, the A80-R was and still is used for mastering and critical recording tasks, offering exceptional frequency response and low distortion.
The A80-R features a precision tape transport mechanism with a heavy-duty capstan and servo-controlled motors, ensuring tape stability and smooth playback/recording.
The unit operates at standard speeds of 7.5, and 15 ips, providing flexibility for different recording and mastering applications.
This machine is equipped with butterfly heads and was only used for 2393 hours.
