With an amazing SPL tolerance of 160 dB at 1kHz, which is, by all means, impressive, especially for a ribbon mic, Royer R-10 delivers a smooth, silky tone with a flat frequency response.

R-10 acts as two mics blended into one: when you place the mic about halv a meter and closer, the back of the Royer R-10 sounds brighter than the front side, as if you have blended 10% of a condenser mic in with your ribbon mic signal. So if you want to make that guitar or vocal just a tiny bit brighter, turn the R-10 around and record away!
