This exceptionally rare, Swiss-made portable console is a piece of professional audio history from Uster Zellweger, a renowned Swiss brand that produced high-end audio equipment in the early 1960s.
Though compact in size, this solidly built console is surprisingly heavy, thanks to its premium internal components. It features four microphone inputs with 70dB of gain, along with two balanced outputs (-10dB and +6dB). A built-in switchable FET limiter with an indicator ensures smooth, controlled dynamics, while the front panel monitor speaker with switch and volume control allows for on-the-go monitoring.
Designed for versatile power options, this console operates on 110V-220V AC or battery power, making it ideal for both studio and field recording. Inside, it houses a wealth of high-end components, including:
- Audio transformers for rich analog warmth
- Mustard & Siemens capacitors for premium signal integrity
- RCA & Siemens germanium transistors for a distinct vintage tone
- Beyerdynamic transformers for superior audio performance
Its elegant, compact design pays homage to Swiss audio pioneers like Studer and Nagra, even featuring reversed XLR (male-female) connectors in the classic early Nagra/Studer style.
With its rich, detailed tone, this console excels as a high-quality mic preamp or small mono mixer. Thanks to its integrated battery compartment, it's perfect for mobile recording, outdoor sessions, and vintage audio enthusiasts looking for a rare, collectible piece of Swiss engineering.
