The Beyerdynamic M320, a dynamic ribbon microphone, which is a bit of an unusual combination, is a vintage model, and while not as famous as the Beyerdynamic M160, it has some interesting characteristics.

Key Features of the Beyerdynamic M320:

Ribbon Element with a Dynamic Output Stage – the M320 incorporates a moving ribbon but functions more like a dynamic mic, making it less fragile and easier to use with standard preamps.

Hypercardioid Polar Pattern – Unlike most figure-8 ribbon microphones, the M320 has a hypercardioid pickup, offering better off-axis rejection and making it more versatile in live and studio settings.

Smooth, Vintage Tone – Ribbon mics are known for their natural warmth and smooth high-frequency roll-off, and the M320 likely delivers a darker, richer sound compared to modern condensers.

Broadcast & Instrument Use – This mic was often used for speech, radio, and some instrument applications, particularly where a controlled pickup pattern and vintage ribbon tonality were desirable.
