With a rich history dating back to 1965, Finnvox is known for its state-of-the-art recording, mixing, and mastering capabilities across nine studios.
In this masterclass, you will dive into the innovative world of Dolby Atmos, exploring spatial audio techniques that elevate your mixes to new heights. The main topics will focus on recording and, especially, mixing in Dolby Atmos, with plenty of engaging audio examples, including recordings from Abbey Road Studios and ProTools sessions from Nightwish's surround mixes.
You'll gain insights into key concepts such as spatial hearing, localization of sound, and the history of surround sound. Learn the specifics of the Dolby Atmos format, how to record for it, and effective mixing techniques to create music in this dynamic environment.

The masterclass is led by the legendary Risto Hemmi, a legendary recording and mixing engineer and one of the owners of Finnvox Studios, Finland's largest recording facility. Established in 1965, Finnvox is the first studio in Finland built for recording purposes and features nine state-of-the-art studios.
Risto began his career at Finnvox in the 1970s and has been shaping the Finnish music scene ever since. With a reputation for expertise in recording and mixing, including in Dolby Atmos, Risto brings invaluable knowledge and passion to the masterclass, ensuring an engaging and insightful experience for all participants.
